Does the new nanno technology boost in solar pave the way for lower costs to the public?

I have read that sale of the new printed solar cell panels went on sale in December, 2007 and are projected to cost $1 per watt and $2 per watt per system, which comes out to less than coal power. I'm not sure if there are some economies of scale projections in there or what but here's an article on the subject:
