Hello everyone,
Just checked out the threads that Geoff started and decided to join to see how I can contribute a little.
Perhaps there should be an instructions in the bulletin board on how people joining this group can participate. For example, I hesitate to reply to the discussions immediately knowing that it will be used somehow... for an upcoming conference in May.
Tried checking out the website but no success (www.moraleconomy.org). Is it down for some reason? Have you considered embedding this group on the website using WiserEarth' Iframe option? This way readers and conference participants can connect to this space for further deliberation and collaboration.
Also added the Right Relationships book as a resource page. You might want to add thet to your personal network by clicking "Add to network" in Actions box of that page. The same can be done with the organization page.
In solidarity, Bowo Chief Editor for WiserEarth p.s. If you have any question on using WiserEarth, drop by the Help Desk. |

Hi Bowo,
Thanks for your suggestions! I have added the book to my network and the MEP's network.
The website is working as far as I can tell, but you're the third person in the last few days to tell me they have trouble accessing it. I don't know what's going on with that. I've emailed our technical person and am waiting for an answer.
I should clarify also about the symposium. Most of the people we're inviting to join this forum are people who we have invited to the May symposium in Montreal. Since the symposium is only two days long, we want to start sharing views beforehand so that we will have a sharper focus of discussion once we actually meet in person (or by video, for those attending remotely). Nothing from these forums will be posted anywhere else without the express permission of the author. If at a future point, we want to use resources, ideas, etc. mentioned here in other symposium-related material, we will contact the author of that post individually to ask if we can. I hope that is enough to allay any concerns.
Thanks, Grace |

Hi Grace,
Always glad to see an active group in WE and do my bit to help :)
I have no problem if whatever I write here is used elsewhere to good ends, even without permission. My hesitation was more out of fear to intrude your process here, e.g. only intended for conference participants. If it's ok to participate, then I'd be happy to.
Interested to participate remotely if possible and time permits. How do I do that?
Thanks, Bowo p.s. was able to access your site from skweezer.com --> http://www.skweezer.com/s.aspx?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.moraleconomy.org%2F and via Opera Turbo browser. It seems that people from specific regions (with specific IP address) can not access it (skweezer and opera turbo provide a proxy, that's why I was able to access). |

I'll send you an email with the remote participation information. It isn't complicated. We're using the DimDim conferencing software, and all it will basically involve is, you'll be sent a login and password shortly before the symposium starts and you'll go to our website and log in to watch the presentations and to participate by microphone or text chat in the discussion periods.
I'll give that info to our tech person. That's very odd. Thanks for narrowing that down! |

Hi Grace - I had a quick question.
We were interesting in posting a discussion paper for each of the three topics. But I understand that is better that I attend the workshop for only one. Is that correct? And is that OK?
Thanks and looking forward to the Conference.

Hi Robin - Allow me to jump in on the question about workshops. While we expect most people will keep with one workshop at the symposium, we thought it would be good to have some "cross-pollination," with some people splitting time with 2 workshops. Geoff |

You're certainly welcome to post more than one discussion paper on this forum, and to make more than one paper available for distribution at the symposium. We don't yet know how many papers we will receive, so when it comes time to put together the post-symposium record of proceedings, we might have to limit inclusion in that to one paper per person. We'll figure that out later on, once all papers are received. I hope that answers your question!

Hello everyone,
First off, I want to thank you for joining us here on WiserEarth! We hope to be able to get some significant discussion underway here, in order to refine the focus of our upcoming symposium in May. There are specific threads below for each of the broad topics we want to explore; please feel free to share your thoughts there or create your own.
This is a moderated forum; the moderators are Geoff Garver and myself. We don't intend to censor discussion, but we will be removing any obscene or hateful material, advertising spam, etc.
Upcoming events relating to the Moral Economy Project will be posted in the Events section, and I'll probably also mention them in the discussion forum. For more information about the project itself, please visit our website at www.moraleconomy.org.
All of us here are relatively new to WiserEarth, so please let us know if there's anything else you'd like to see here and we'll try to make it happen. On behalf of everyone at the Moral Economy Project, thanks for coming and we look forward to hearing your ideas!
