Just found your group and "joined", so I can watch how it all goes. I lived on Orcas and San Juan for some years; back in Oregon now. An interested ex-resident; my ex-husband (mostly) and I organized a county wide energy fair while we were there.
We had three kids there, grew salad for restaurants and seed for Abundant Life, milked goats, harvested honey and other adventures. My ex-husband was a stringer for the Island newspaper, worked as a park ranger on Sucia and Matia and other small islands: my oldest when 3-5 yrs old won ribbons at the fair and rode her pony in the parade. I was on the board of a parent co-op preschool (Friday Harbor, now gone), was a childcare provider, baked for Farmer's Market, and so on.
Decent at grant writing. working at getting myself funded to follow my curiosity and ideas for 6 months to a year; have files of fairly simple, easy to implement projects. May be able to come up this summer or next fall and look at projects there, maybe help with a grant proposal or some other piece of the puzzle. Have a fair idea of the issues there....will be "listening" again in May (Brazil in April).
