About
What do you do if there's water all around the houses all the time? At this floating farmers market outside Bangkok, Thailand, you can get fleshy custard apples, tender sweet coconuts and crisp guavas all while rushing past sleek fast boats powered by rigged smoky diesel truck engines. Get your change ready and grab the coconut before your boats pass each other and it's too late. Business is brisk and growers drive their boats as well as make the sale.
There are enterprising artisans selling handicrafts, paintings, and other art. There are busy food stalls on either side of the narrow canals selling food, attracting customers.
Overall, it's a rich cultural experience provided your fingers are not crushed by rushing and bumping boats.
Prices are affordable here even for poor locals unlike the Ferry Plaza farmers market in San Francisco.
