About
Purpose of Citizens Climate Lobby is to create the political will for a sustainable climate, empowering individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.
Purpose of the Group Start Meeting is to experience the profound difference people can make by empowering and inspiring their Members of Congress and the media. Participants will be urged to use this time together to investigate questions of vision, what is your vision for the world, and what is your role in fulfilling that vision. The purpose is also to form a Citizens Climate Lobby of at least five like minded people who are eager to lobby their elected officials and the media on Climate Legislation.
How does CCL Work? CCL uses a mix of group empowerment and support which includes monthly national conference calls with a guest speaker. CCL trains volunteers to speak powerfully to their elected officials, the media and their local communities in order to inspire members of Congress to be leaders and spokespersons for a sustainable climate. CCL volunteers meet with their members of Congress, launch letter-writing campaigns, write letters to the editor, Op/Ed pieces, and generate editorials to promote a sustainable climate.
Event Leader, Marshall Saunders is the Founder of Citizens Climate Lobby. For 14 years, he has been a leader with RESULTS, an International Citizens Lobby, creating the political will for the end of hunger and poverty. After being trained by Vice President Gore, he gave 42 talks on the Climate and realized during those talks that while the actions he suggested to people to take were essential, they were also overwhelmed by what the Government did or didn’t do. He saw that the techniques he had learned at RESULTS needed to be applied to climate issues.
