About  [Edit]

Mission

The mission of the tour is to promote non-violence and peace among all generations, cultures and religions and to highlight the global need to eliminate hunger, as well as focusing on cultural exchange and networking with international charity organizations.

Vision

It is our vision to create a multi cultural platform that highlights tribal and local artists as well as major international stars, supporting the movement of educational pop culture seeking an ethic, peace driven environment.

Intention

Thru the Universal language of music and dance, The Gandhi Tour will transport the message of Non-violence and peace around the world. The creation of the tour is reach out to the global community and supply them with information on Non-violence, peace, and on parts of the world that are suffering from poverty. We intend to do this through the Universal language of music and dance gathering a multi cultural group of artist. In addition to educating we plan to celebrate those already on the path of non-violence and peace.

The Inspiration

Swiss musician Tobias Huber, founder of The Gandhi Tour, was living more than seven Years in India. He describes the initial idea of the Gandhi Tour: “In my vision in the Himalaya, where every winter children are dieing of hunger and cold, I saw a huge music event touring around the globe in cause of peace and non-violence, generating the consciousness to enable us to stop global hunger.”

Non-Profits associated with The Gandhi Tour

Tribes of the World
Tribes of the World, a 501c3 organization, is proudly presenting The Gandhi Tour. In partnership with the Gandhi Group, Tribes of the World will be hosting both a New York and a Los Angles benefit concert in conjunction with the 30 Days of Peace in response to The United Nation's call for global action, taking place between 09/11/2007 10/11/2007. These events will be a prelude to Tribes of the World's philanthropic work towards facilitating The Gandhi World Music Tour and cultivating funds for the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and many other affiliated non-profit organizations.

Gandhi Institute

The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence was founded in 1991 by the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Arun Gandhi, and his wife Sunanda. The Gandhis provided seed money for the Institute through the sale of Gandhijis letters to his son and daughter-in-law (Arun's parents), Manilal and Sushila. Sustaining funds come from contributions, publications, program fees, and grants. The Institute is hosted by the University of Rochester, which graciously provides an office for the work on nonviolence.
