About  [Edit]

A skill-building event about gardening, cooking, composting, processing, transportation, and the local food economy plus a local foods dinner.

From website:

""Eat Local Now! is an ongoing collaboration between BALLE Seattle and other associations such as Sustainable Ballard. Our goal is to promote the importance of the local food system in Cascadia and to form the connections needed to take action to strengthen our local food economy.

On September 13th, 2008 at University Heights Center, we are hosting the Eat Local Now! A Hands-On Festival, a skill-building, knowledge sharing event connecting the dots on the food cycle from gardening to planting, growing, harvesting, cooking, and composting. At the end of the day, we’ll celebrate with a local foods dinner.  We will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a mini-conference, then at 5:00 p.m. we will enjoy a local foods dinner outside in the plaza area, weather permitting.Tickets are available for purchase online NOW!

Admission
The afternoon mini-conference will request a suggested donation at the door of $15 to cover the rental of the space; the dinner will involve paid tickets on a sliding scale between $25-$30. A limited number of reduced price low-income/student tickets are available upon request at info@balleseattle.org.""
