Medicinal Herbs in Forest Systems
January 17-21 Five days of instruction devoted to the conservation, cultivation, and integration of herbal plants in permaculture and agroforestry systems. Study traditional medicine of the Amazon, Andes, subtropical and temperate southeast asia and China. Learn about local medicinal plants of Hawaii and their uses. Marketing for unusual medicinal and edible crops. Permaculture principles and sustainable design techniques for productive long term yields.
COURSE INSTRUCTORS: Jerome Black - Ethnobotanical explorer, founder of Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories and Oregon Exotics Nursery. Ben Kamm - Ethnobotanical Explorer, director of Botanical Preservation Corps and Sacred Succulents nursery. Tom Baldwin and Shannon Casey land designers, horticulturalists and stewards of Uluwehi Farm and Nursery, home of a diverse food and medicinal plant forest.
Special guests: Dennis Sharmahd - Fungi that ‘s good for you. Lyn Howe - Using our local medicine plants. Neil Logan - Land stewardship for multiple yields. others TBA.

Hawaiian Islands Permaculture Convergence
January 24-25 All Islands Pacific Permaculture Convergence: Presentations of projects from the Hawaiian Islands with breakout discussion groups. Music, camping and sharing island style. Field trips to include permaculture sites following the event. $35
