Tamera Summeruniversity

"Be the Change - Youth for a Future without War"

in Tamera, Portugal

July 21st - July 30th

The fight against the destruction of the Earth, its ecosystems and all creatures can be won if we are ready to drastically change our patterns of thinking and living. This is not another appeal to human beings as individuals, but an invitation and a call to contribute to a global peace-plan[1] which has chances of success.

Some of the concrete points of this plan are:

  • Changing oneself and the building up of a non-violent worldmodel

  • Study of a theory of healing, or why we can trust that a few such centres are already stronger than the old system of violence

  • Ending the war between the genders, or creating a culture where the lasting fulfilment in love, partnership and sexuality is self-evident

The following experts and visionaries, amongst others, will participate and contribute their knowledge in the mentioned areas:

  • Juergen Kleinwaechter (Sunvention Loerrach/Germany): Future visions and experiences of a decentralized solar technology and the principle of abundance

  • Dieter Duhm (Tamera/Portugal): A global peace – plan, or why the earth can be healed

  • Sabine Lichtenfels (Tamera/Portugal): GRACE and Global Campus: Gathering knowledge for peace

  • Sami Awad (Bethlehem/Palestine): Non-violent resistance and building a violent-free model of life in the Middle East

  • Don José Carmen (Mexico): Cosmic agriculture, or communicating with plants

  • Benjamin von Mendelssohn: International networking for the building of concrete future models.

  • Vera Kleinhammes (Tamera/Portugal): A new picture of motherhood and partnership

  • Mara Vollmer (Tamera/Portugal): Professions in service of peace

  • Gloria Cuartas and people from the Peace Community San José de Apartadó (Colombia): The survival power of a peace community

Also: Manitonquat, eldest of the Wampanoag-Indians; representatives of Next GEN – youth of the Global Ecovillage Network, as well as representatives from Auroville, future-town in India.

We invite people of all ages and especially young peace workers.
For free humans and a free Earth!

There will be the following working groups:

  • Sensible political actions

  • Solar Village and sustainable technologies

  • Media, IT and political networking

  • Raising children in a new culture

[1] The plan is described in the books “Future without War“ by Dieter Duhm and “Grace. Pilgrimage for a Future without War “ by Sabine Lichtenfels

Dear….

With this letter we want to invite you warmly to our Summer University, which takes place from July 21-30, 2008. We know that this invitation comes at very short notice, but we will explain why:

Shortly after the violent riots in Tibet in March, we received a message from His Holiness, the XVII Gyalwa Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley, where he mentioned his interest in visiting Tamera. Tamera is the “base camp” of a project which has been developed in the last thirty years to free the earth from violence and war. Our motivations are to bring healing to the collective trauma, establish applicable prototype models, create an efficient global network, and offer help in crisis areas. The project focuses on nonviolent cooperation with all beings, self-sufficiency through new technology, and ending the war between the genders.

We came closer to the Buddhist world and we want to invite you to our think tank for a future without war: What could be our common vision and action for global peace, in particular for the Tibetan crisis?

Although H.H. the Karmapa will not come to Tamera this year, a delegation on behalf of H.H. will participate in the Summer University, including Venerable Lama Jamphal (Director of the Gyuto Health and Education Department of the Gyuto Tantric University), Tenzin Nyendak (Secretary of Lama Jamphal), Venerable Chemy (Secretary of H.H. Karmapa for foreign affairs), and Gelek Khedup.
They found out about the work of Tamera through different paths. One was a video about our Solar Village, which is a research branch of Tamera. (It can be seen here:
http://www.solarpowervillage.info/).

For us the connection to Tibet and to Buddhists everywhere is essential. It is an important part of the political strategy for a nonviolent earth that is taught and researched here in Tamera: to integrate the Buddhist wisdom and combine it with a new knowledge for nonviolent future models.

We view the visit of H.H. delegation as the start for a very unique cooperation in the name of peace workers worldwide. For this we warmly invite you to our Summer University to find out where our next steps of cooperation could lead. We want to discover a common strategy. Tibet needs help!

Greetings from the Tamera community,
