Join Rob Keller, bee-artist, bee-activitst, bee-keeper and bee-teacher, for this weekend workshop at Commonweal Garden. Whether you are new to beekeeping or a practiced beekeeper, this course will help build your skills for successfully managing bee colonies at home.
As a participant, you will:
Gain an understanding of the honeybee as an insect and as an important contributor to our agricultural landscape.
Discover beekeeping as it can be practiced in a sustainable manner, without using antibiotics and chemical
compounds for pest and disease control.
Learn the basics of bee biology, honeybee pests and diseases, beekeeping equipment, methods of swarm prevention and control, among other topics.
Have the opportunity to participate in an open hive inspection to help you feel more comfortable handling bees (weather conditions permitting).
COURSE FEES:
$150 for full weekend and camping Saturday evening.
