About  [Edit]

Prout stands for the Progressive Utilization Theory, a socio-economic model that responds to the question, "What kind of world do we want?" Formulated by the Indian thinker Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar in 1959, Prout is a creative and innovative socio-economic model, a Neo-humanist alternative to the materialism and excessive individualism of capitalism. Based on the ethics of spiritual values, Prout promotes ecological protection and sustainable development, creating an Economic Democracy through cooperatives.

Dada Maheshvarananda, born in the US, is an activist, writer, and monk. For 29 years he has taught meditation and yoga and supervised social service projects, in Southeast Asia, Europe and South America. His recent book, After Capitalism: Prout's Vision for a New World, has been published in six languages. He has given hundreds of seminars and workshops around the world about social issues and spiritual values. He has served as a consultant for the Venezuelan government in Proutist Economic Development, and in October 2006 he started the Prout Research Institute of Venezuela in Caracas, an independent not-for-profit foundation.

Come and hear about this vision and his experience implementing it in Venezuela. Dada is a lively and engaging speaker promising to make this an interactive and playful event.
