Clean Tech Open would like to remind you to RSVP for the 2008 Awards Gala. At this gala evening event known as the Academy Awards of Clean Tech, we will announce the six winners of this year's competition, who will each be presented with a $100,000 "start-up in a box" prize package to help launch their companies. Keynotes from prominent environmental leaders will include a presentation from David Rodgers, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

A buffet dinner and wine will be served amid an exhibition of the 43 finalists' technologies.

On Oct. 24, 2008, Sustainable Life Media reported that Researchers at Deutsche Bank's Asset Management (DeAM) Division heartily agreed that increased spending on green infrastructure can provide enough economic stimulus to avoid a severe recession.

"The current crisis is making the necessity of tackling climate change an opportunity to stimulate growth through investment opportunities," says Mark Fulton, DeAM's global head of climate change investment research. "Severe though it is, the current financial situation can eventually be fixed, and should not be used as an excuse for inaction."

A Social Scientist, Economist, and Environmental Activist. Dave has been working in forest management and public lands management all his adult life. For the past 29 years, Dave worked for the US Forest Service (retired 11/30/07), dealing with land management and public policy played out at the confluence of complex, adaptive natural systems and complex, adaptive, and politically wicked social systems. Before that he also did a short stint with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. Dave is a founding board member for Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics (FSEEE) and has played a minor role in the genesis of Public Employees For Environmental Responsibility (PEER).
