About  [Edit]

Do you want a job that aligns with your values, but also pays a good wage? You can find one in the emerging green economy. Green building is already a $12 billion industry — and expected to increase to $60 billion by 2010. Venture capital firms pumped more than $5 billion into clean tech startups in 2007, up from $3.6 billion in 2006. And countless consulting firms, entrepreneurs, and financial services companies are offering sustainable products and services.

All this growth is and will continue to translate into satisfying career opportunities at the forefront of the shift to a sustainable economy.

But how do you find these jobs? Where do you start? What skills and background do you need?

That’s where this San Francisco Bay Area-based workshop can help. Designed for entry- and mid-level job seekers and career changers who would like to get involved in the emerging green economy, you’ll find out how to position yourself for emerging opportunities — and leave with new ideas for landing a job that satisfies your pocketbook as well as your conscience. You’ll come away with answers to questions such as:

  • How can you make a good living in the green sector?
  • What is a green job and where can you find one?
  • What type of education, background, and skills do you need to get a green job?
  • How can you turn your current job into a green job?
  • How do your skills match up to your dream green job?
  • How can networking help you land the job you want?
  • What proven strategies can help you get hired?
  • Is all this talk of green a trend, or is it here to stay — and what does that mean for your career?

Course Instructor
The workshop is taught by Frank Marquardt, author of Green Careers. Frank has written and edited more than 80 career books on dozens of industries and career paths. He has spent the last six years working with green nonprofits and startups, most recently as HR Manager at SustainLane. More about Frank.
