PV 101: Intro to Photovoltaics
Jun 6-7 2008, 9am-5pm

If you want to build your own PV system, or want to know if solar makes sense for you before you talk to a contractor, this 2-day workshop is for you. This course is also a perfect introduction to solar for contractors and solar career seekers.

Day One topics include:

• Basics of electricity and PV

• The nuts and bolts of solar

• Stand-alone and grid-tied solar system components

• Simple ways to save money by improving energy efficiency

Day Two topics include:

• Quick calculation of financial payoff

• Determine ideal system size based on equipment costs, incentives/rebates, and grid utility rates

The format for this class will be primarily lecture. For hands-on experience, we recommend following this course with PV102.
