* The east of Taiwan is located at the intersection of the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate. The Central Mountains are high and steep; their imposing gorges are narrow and deep, for example: the Ta Ro Ko National Park. The East Rift Valley lies along the suture zone of the plates. The Coast Mountains are made up of volcanic island arcs, whose igneous rock is different from that of the Central Mountains. They are steep and awe-inspiring, unique and beautiful.
