Over
the course of eight weekends, the Institute for Regenerative Leadership
(IRL) will expose participants to core principles, elements,
and practices for regenerative leadership. This course is being offered
on an application basis for the benefit of business, family, and
community leaders who desire to refine their ability to connect with
and learn from nature itself how to guide long term regeneration in the
areas of personal and family development, community, business, and
ecology.
Though each weekend has a particular focus, each weekend will also include training in the four key areas of Regenerative Design/Permaculture, nature connection, regenerative culture, and natural leadership. Participants will emerge with a holistic and well-rounded picture of regenerative leadership. Friday evenings will be lecture-based and Saturday days will be experientially-based field days.
Weekend 1 - Pathways to Regenerative Culture
Key topics: An experiential introduction to the four key areas, an overview of a global movement, opening ceremonies, and goal setting workshops
Weekend 2 - The Fire Within: Mentoring Nature Connection
Key topics: How do we keep the flame of creativity and curiosity alive, or reawaken it, through mentoring in nature connection?
Weekend 3 - Integral Awareness and Holistic Tracking
Key topics: Holistic awareness of nature is the most ancient tool that we as humans have in our toolkit. It is also the most important tool of the regenerative leader. Why?
Weekend 4 - The Primary Connection: Relationship-Building and the Instinct for Stewardship
Key topics: Stewardship as a routine for nature connection, body awareness, and the healing power of nature
Weekend 5 - The Invisible School
Key topics: Culture as school, tools for cultural design, tools for community empowerment, and cultural mentoring
Weekend 6 - The 200 Year Plan
Key topics: How do we design for 200 years of regeneration in our community starting today? How was it done before us? Applied cultural anthropology and our global role-models for regeneration.
Weekend 7 - The Regenerative Leader
Key topics: Stepping into leadership, Peacemaking, oral history and storytelling as a tool, finding and honoring the elders, management styles and tools,teams and tools for team agility, cohesion, and self-sufficiency, team creativity and problem solving.
Weekend 8 - Advanced Awareness Training
Key topics: Top secret ;)
Weekend 9 - Graduation!!!
Location
This course takes place in various locations throughout Southeastern Michigan. We will explore forests, fields, lakes, wetlands, industrial parks, cities, towns, villages, organic farms, conventional farms, and the fireside in the journey into regenerative leadership.
Food and Lodging
Camping will be available at all sites, for Friday evening. Food will be a potluck meal on every Friday evening and light, easy-to-prepare meals during the day on Saturday.
