About  [Edit]

In 2006, a group called Democracy Unlimited (DUHC) based in Humboldt County, California did something revolutionary; they passed a law that limited the power of not just one corporation but all corporations in their county.   Known as measure T, the law bans out-of-county corporations from participating in the electoral process.  Their success stymied strategies by WalMart and Pacific Lumber to buy out politicians in order to log old growth forests and build superstores in the county.  DUHC’s campaign is part of a growing effort nationally to challenge corporate power locally, reinvigorate democracy and place human interests above corporate profit.

-- Listen to David Cobb and Shannon Tracey from DUHC tell their story --
-- Discuss campaign possibilities to limit corporate power in the bay area --

Public Talk, Nov. 14, 7.30pm, Counter Pulse
1310 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA, 94103 (near 9th Street)
