About [Edit]
The paradigm of “activation” is an important reference point for ongoing reforms of labour market and welfare policies in European countries. The conference aims to look at this paradigm and its consequences, particularly for benefit recipients who are “on the fringes” of labour market and society (welfare recipients, long-term ill, refugees, long term unemployed and so on).
The issue of activation will be approached from different angles:
- Ideas and ideologies of activation
- Activation policies in Europe
- The governance of activation
- Doing research on activation – methodological issues
- Activation measures and their effects on different target groups
- In the “black box” – activation from an interaction perspective
- Activation and social inclusion/exclusion
Following the last plenary session there will be the opportunity to discuss the formation of an international research network on activation.
