Trope’s work is informed by the social tensions that characterize Brazilian contemporary society. Her enlarged color photographs portray the meninos da rua (street kids of Rio de Janeiro) with a home-made pinhole camera in which the resulting images are the product of a negotiation between the artist’s gaze and the meninos’ creativity, who are invited to participate in the production of the image.
