About  [Edit]

Trope’s work is informed by the social tensions that characterize Brazilian contemporary society. Her enlarged color photographs portray the meninos da rua (street kids of Rio de Janeiro) with a home-made pinhole camera in which the resulting images are the product of a negotiation between the artist’s gaze and the meninos’ creativity, who are invited to participate in the production of the image. Trope’s work is an exploration of the limits of artistic authorship and collaboration
