Last year’s West Coast Convergence for Climate Action was a great success and we are trying to build on its momentum. Over 400 people came out to rural SW Washington to participate in over 100 workshops, learn about different community-based struggles & solutions and ended the week by taking action against Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) development and PacifiCorp’s consistent disregard of their dams’ impact on surrounding cultures and the environment. The West Coast Convergence for Climate Action was held in conjunction with climate gatherings in the UK which focused on airport expansion and in the southeast US focusing on the coal and nuclear industries.
For more info on last year’s WC Climate Convergence, click here.
We are part of an international grassroots movement that plans to work with and support communities on the front lines of the climate struggle and take direct action against the fossil fuel empire. The West Coast Convergence For Climate Action will be held in conjunction with at least 7 other climate action gatherings across the world. There are plans to have camps in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and 2 others in the southeast and northeast United States.
To find out more about these other Climate Action Camps go to http://www.climateconvergence.org/ and click on the event you are interested in.
Locally and regionally the resistance to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) development has grown a lot due to grassroots efforts by communities across Oregon. Now is the time to join together in Solidarity with one another against the Fossil Fuel Empire which is the greatest contributor to climate change and worldwide injustice.
Remember it’s the last week of July, first weekend in August.
July 28th - August 4th
Check back soon for more details. We will try and update the site with fliers, shuttle information, a “donations needed” list and more info on the struggle as often as possible.
