BeRewarding.com is an incentive-based educational website designed to teach individuals of all ages about the pertinent global challenges we face while simultaneously generating revenue for leading nonprofit organizations working to address these challenges.
Idea Description
Imagine having a tangible positive impact on the world simply by increasing your awareness of global issues. BeRewarding challenges and educates users with multiple choice questions in eight categories. For each correct answer, BeRewarding makes donations to leading nonprofit organizations working to address the issues highlighted in the questions. Banner advertising for socially and environmentally responsible companies funds the donations. Our team has self-funded the initial development of the site, alpha.berewarding.com, and we are excited to take the next steps in making this vision real. Our work is inspired by an existing site, www.freerice.com, but maximizes the impact of the model.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Our next steps will be taking the site live, getting the word out and impacting the world! We will use the prize money to ‘seed’ the system as we’ve got a bit of a chicken and egg problem. We need advertisers on the site to generate the money that will be donated to the organizations. But, in order to attract advertisers, we need a strong user base so we can provide traffic metrics and demographic information. As users answer questions, the $10K will be dispersed to our 8 partner organizations including: World of Good, The Pachamama Alliance, Green for All, and PlayPumps International. This $10K seed money will eventually grow into hundreds of thousands for these organizations.
