Seed Swap/Locovore Dinner open at 4pm
You are invited to our most vivacious, fecund and juicy fundraiser of the year. The day includes a Seed Swap, Locovore Dinner and the Chautauqua Revue, a vaudevillian variety show boasting outstanding local talent. Beginning at 4pm a free community seed swap with locovore dinner & libations benefiting the SPROUT Seed Library. Join several local organizations and your fellow gardeners in swapping seeds and celebrating community. Plan on staying for the Chautauqua Revue beginning at 8pm, fundraiser $15-150.
Inspired by the traveling Chautauqua’s of the late 19th and early twentieth centuries, the joint Occidental Arts & Ecology Center & SPROUT Seed Library Chautauqua Seed Fest & Revue, seeks to celebrate the true sense of the word community. The afternoon Seed Fest begins with a musically accented Seed Swap ‘you don’t have to bring to receive’ with a freshly prepared locovore dinner available during the festivities. The Revue is local entertainment for local audiences, an evocative brew consisting of storytelling, music, dance, comedy, clown, magic, poetry, and whatever other ingredients may turn up. Laced together by longtime music director Ben Buettner and his cabaret stage bands, this year's show is another stellar array of local and guest wonders: OAEC resident fools Clowns On A Stick; Dusty Roads, Conrad Bishop and Elizabeth Fuller, of The Independent Eye; the intricate beat boxing of Bronkar Lee; and more to be announced. All of this presented in that quaint, though discreet coastal community in West Marin celebrating the fecundity of community, seeds and the return of the light. |
