Just went to look up a book that was published in Jan 2007, and the site says it was published Dec 31 1969. When we changed the date format a couple months back a whole bunch of books got reset as being published in 1969. Anyway we can fix this? It really makes our resources look out of date. Thanks!

Thanks Noel - that's works brilliantly!

|
Yeah Camilla. That's on my to do list...

|
I love the new messaging feature - fantastic! Would it also be possible to make the "You have an unread message" a hypertext to link to the actual messages area. Cheers Camilla

nrosquist,
Make sure you have updated your bookmarks. We moved to www.wiserearth.org. You are probably using the old civilsociety.org url. |
|
Wherever there are links to external websites, would it be possible to simply launch a new webpage rather than directing users away from the site every time. e.g. Clustermaps, org website links etc. Cheers Camilla :)

I keep getting this message when I navigate to my profile, about the google maps api key being registered for a different website...

I tried to upload a PDF on the Resource page, but couldn't find where to add this - this would be great if we could offer this functionality - I wanted to upload a PDF of the Earth Charter. Cheers Camilla

When it says "Your search did not return any results.", maybe we could also add "Do you want to add this organization" and link the person to the 'Add organization' page... Cheers Camilla

When I add an organization and I need to edit the name of the organization that i just entered, how do I do this? Also, if I have a mission statement in several languages, how do I enter them separately? Cheers Camilla :) |

hey noel, i saw the sust cities&design page yesterday, looks good! i like the setup.

Howdy! When adding areas of focus to an organization, etc. I thought it would be even easier to have an additional functionality where double-clicking an area from the list on the left would add it without having to press the "add" button (this would be in conjuction with the "add" button and not replace it). Also, it would be cool if you could use your keyboard "delete" button to remove areas of focus that had already been added. That said, this is just a wishlist item, the system as is works smoothly.

Tricia,
A common practice I have in any web form when typing in lots of data is to always copy the entire selection to my computer's buffer regularly in case of any issues. I mean a browser crash is beyond anything we can save you from. Ctl-A to select all, Ctl-C to copy to your clipboard. Then it's THERE until you cut or copy something else. Another option is to open a plain text file on your desktop and keep it pasted there as you work on it. I always do this when working on large emails in webmail for example or filling out craigslist ads or ebay ads, or anything like that. It's a good practice that will save you everytime... As for an automatic save...Oz, I'm thinking javascript observe event combined with saving all contents to a cookie...might work. I have concerns that restoration procedures would add to user confusion though. |

hapatrees,
Auotmatically saving in the browser while the user is adding/editing data is a very good idea. We will look into this. Thanks. |

Hey! Love the site, but for some reason the bar on the left hand side is acting funny today- the font is a lot smaller.
Also, is there any possible way to do an automatic save when adding orgs or resources? (eg, the way gmail saves your composed email every once in a while) I know that may be asking much, but sometimes if we accidentally leave the page we're working on by hitting the backbutton or something, we lose all our data. A minor annoyance really, but it could be a nice feature.. |

Is there a way to change the language setting for an organization AFTER it is entered and active? I added a spanish language organization, and later realized that I had left the language setting as English. I went back to change it but couldn't change the language. This is the link:

- I have tried searching for an organization by just copying and pasting in the entire URL : http://www.oneworld.net/ - It obviously didn't find the entry until i typed in www.oneworld.net. Maybe a prompt could appear to help the user when it doesn't find any results...such as 'would you like to try 'www.xxxx.com' instead?
- When I'm inputting information I think there needs to be more prompts to help the user (what does 'Activities (and Activist...etc)' mean and 'Scope' and what is a 'village-based organization?) - none of these things are obvious to a non-savvy user. Cheers Camilla :) |

I absolutely love the intention of your "Network" feature. I am currently learning Social Network Analysis, so being able to diagram the relationships between things is very helpful.
However, it would be even more helpful if we could get the data in a format that can be used directly for Social Network Analysis. Typically, this is in the form of one or more spreadsheets or comma separated value lists such as the following sample based on my own profile: schema: node1,node2,relationship habib, peggy, linktouser habib, betsy, linktouser habib,Distributive and Economic Justice, linktoAoFPortal habib,Economic Development, linktoAoFPortal habib,Information and Communication Tech, linktoAoFPortal habib,Sustainable Communities, linktoAoFPortal habib,Sustainable Livelihoods, linktoAoFPortal If the data was available in this sort of format, we could do some very useful analysis with it. For example, we could learn who (and what concepts) are connecting others, which are "influencing" others, which are "aware" of others. To learn more about this sort of thing, you might want to visit: http://www.networkweaving.com/blog/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_analysis or, over time, my own blog at: http://www.neighbornetworking.com Thanks! |

Have you talked with The Idealist about what you're doing? It seems like it would be a natural for their jobs to be listed and searchable using the WISER framework...

|
Just to be clear, I'm talking about an Activity that I can add to my profile. For example, when editing my profile, I can pick from Academia, Activism, Administration etc.
As requested below, the Activity that we most need is Network Weaving. But, it would be nice to have additional Activities as well, such as: Social Networking |
