Welcome!

This tutorial has been created to help new users learn how to navigate through the site, how to search for information on an organization or an area of focus, how to set up your personal profile, and how to add a new organization. For more information about what you can do on WiserEarth read the Get Involved page or visit the WiserEarth Editors group.

Step One - User Registration   And Creating Your Personal Profile Once you have set up your own username and password, you will be able to: Set up your personal profile so that you can connect with others who share your interests or expertise. Join and participate in any of the Groups on WiserEarth. Send and receive messages from other WiserEarth users  Set up alerts to get updates when information changes on specific areas of the site. Create and edit content on WiserEarth including information on organizations, events, discussion forums or groups.

Setting up your Username and Password

1. Click on Join in the upper right-hand corner to create a new user account.

 

You will be taken to the Create Your Personal Profile Page

2. Follow the steps as indicated, starting first with your name and email address.  You can opt to keep your email hidden from public view by checking the "keep it private" option. You can change this information at a later time if needed.

3. Then choose a username and password.  Your username is unique on WiserEarth, and cannot be changed after registration, so we encourage our new users to consider carefully how they would like t be addressed.  When finished, click on the "Join Now" button to save your profile.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Setting up your Personal Profile

Once you have registered, you can add further edits to your personal profile. Before filling in this information, you may want to read more about protecting your personal information.

1. To start editing your profile, select My Profile in the top right corner of the screen.
   

1. To begin entering your contact information, click on Edit under User Info. Enter any personal information you would like to share with the WiserEarth community. Click Save when you have finished.
   
   
   
   NOTE: If you check the box that states "email my Messages", you will receive all WiserEarth emails in your personalized mail program and receive an email alert.
2. Under Areas of Focus, select Edit. Select one or more areas of focus from the left column, then click on the right arrow button to move your choices over to the right column . Click Save when you have finished.
   
3. If you would like to add further information about yourself or your interests, you can click Edit on the  right of the About section.  Enter your text into the text box provided.  If you would like to control the information more and layout you may use the HTML link to code that section.
   
4. Click on Save when you have finished.  You may return to your profile and make edits as much as you would like.
