Page Status Descriptions

This article is locked

WiserEarth provides Editors and Administrators the ability to change the status of the following pages on WiserEarth:

  • Organization listings
  • Event listings
  • Resource pages
  • Solution pages
  • Job postings
  • Discussion topics
  • Discussion forums
  • Wikipages

The reasons for the status changes vary depending on the situation. A common change for organization listings is from Active to In Discussion because they are in conflict with WiserEarth Content Standards. Another common status is Locked, this would restrict editing access to editors and administration. And WiserEarth is not free of spammers, that's why there's a page status called Spam.

All change to a page's status is recorded in the page's history. This can be viewed from the Show History link on top of each page.

Select a status to read more about each of the different statuses below.

Active  |  Locked  |  Duplicate  |  Out of Scope  |  Spam  |  In Discussion  |  Removed  |  Expired

Active

The page is currently available to be viewed by everyone on the internet, and edited by all WiserEarth members.  This is the default setting for all the pages and profiles.

Locked
These pages are viewable by all WiserEarth users and people browsing the internet without being signed into WiserEarth. Only Editors and Adminstrators can edit the content.

'Locked' pages usually are pages that provides guidance for the WiserEarth community such as the About Us page and the tutorial pages. On rare occasions a page can be locked to prevent abusive and ill-intentioned editing.

Duplicate
This status acknowledges that there is another page or profile on WiserEarth respresenting the same information. The content of a page set to Duplicate is not viewable except by editors and administrators.

Out of Scope
These pages, most likely organization listings, are pages that does not follow the Directory Content Standards. Only Editors and Adminstrators can view the content.

Spam
Intrusive unsolicited information often from an outside commercial group.

In Discussion
This is also related to the Directory Content Standards in that an organization or other WE page is marginally aligned. The In discussion designation promotes the community participation in defining the kind of information that is supported on WiserEarth. You can contribute your opinion on the comment section of the page.

Removed
Removed pages are page that for some reason warrants removal from public view. However, no pages or profiles that are created on WiserEarth are ever actually deleted from the server. Editors and Administrators can still view them. This is to provide complete transparency to the actions taken by the users on the site.

Expired

This status applies to job postings that has been posted for 60 days, and event listings for which the event date has come and passed.

Hi there

I am not an editor but I wanted to call attention to a page that i came across, which I believe is violating the terms of engagement. it appears to be a pay per click porthole disguised as a hunger site where users supposedly would be contributing by clicking a link, which,in fact is an advertising pay per click porthole.

This is the page in question:

Could you take a look?

thanks
