Habib's Garden

Connecting People to Weave a Better World

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Steve Habib Rose.  A number of us met this evening and thought that this group would be a fitting tribute. Lets use this group to recognize, honor and appreciate the many gifts and blessings he bestowed on so many of us. Please add yourself and your reflections.

Setting up your group

Next up is to do some preparation so your group is ready to accept members. Here are some tips on setting up your group:

  • Invite early adopters into the group
Invite one or two other people to become group administrators so that you have a helping hand for managing your group. You can also invite these people to help to populate the group with its first content. All administrators receive a message when new members join the group, so you may also want to delegate who sends welcome messages to new members who join. To invite others to be administrators of your group, click "Edit member status" in the pop-out box when hovering your mouse over a member's avatar.
  • Change privacy setting of your group to 'private', and membership setting to 'invitation only'.
This will hide your group from public view and provide you a chance to finish setting it up. Once you're done, change the settings back to whatever you would like it to be and start inviting people into the group. You can change the settings by clicking "Edit settings" on drop-down menu from the blue "Administrator Tools" button.
  • Complete basic information.
Upload an attractive logo, pick a good name for your group, come up with a catchy tagline and write an inviting description for your group. This information will be visible on your group banner and will represent your group in WiserEarth. You can edit this information by clicking "Edit group details" and "Change logo" on the "Administrator Tools" button.
  • Start a couple introductory conversations.
This is a good way to give new members something to do when they first join. Here are some example topics: "Please introduce yourself",  "Why I joined this group", or "How can we best use this group?"
