Meet the Editors

Deborah PhelanDeborah Phelan (boatsie) is a veteran reporter who began her career with the Associated Press in New York City. She has worked in the area of international education since 1995 when she served as education editor for the Magellan Search Directory. She is the producer of two online education projects, Millennaire: The Third Millennium Education Project, and the nonprofit FluidArts, which united scientists, artists and educators in addressing the global digital divide. Her masters in Education focused on the role of Information and Communication Technologies in addressing the Millennium Development Goals, with specific focus on India, sub Saharan Africa, Amazonia, and aboriginal Australia. Deborah currently blogs on health and hunger issues for Daily Kos and is active in the Transition Towns movement. She is currently a member of the WiserEarth Advisory Council.

Deborah PhelanKerry Vineberg (sternklar) is a recent graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and counts herself lucky to be a literature alum of the College of Creative Studies. While in school, she chaired for CalPIRG, researched recycling policy as an abroad student in Germany, and read a lot. She has spent the last several years working in the field of international education, first as a student employee, creating newsletters to send abroad to students, then as a graduate, assisting with programs in Australia, Barbados, Canada, India and New Zealand for the UC Education Abroad Program (EAP). Cubicle life didn't take, so she moved up to San Francisco to pursue conservation goals. She is currently taking time to see the world, steering her friends toward sustainable seafood, and reveling in the amazing public transportation of the Bay Area.

Deborah PhelanWibowo Sulistio (bowo) is an aspiring independent scholar interested mainly in a life-sustaining civilization design. With a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, and a keen interest in understanding the human condition and how the world really works, he started on a quest to put together elements of that design. Along the journey, he landed here on WiserEarth, 'met' all sorts of interesting and inspiring people, and currently serves as Chief Editor. He spends too much time in front of the computer!... and occasionally burns fat playing the national sport, badminton, and taking a stroll on the car-free-Sunday-morning business district of Jakarta. With several neighbors, he's currently trying to start a (very) small mushroom plantation business and hopes to evolve it into a social business one day. He dreams of visiting nature's most pristine and beautiful places.
