Completed-suggestion: Reply with quote of previous message +5
Edit this Page
The message system for WE is ok but not that great,e specially because it doesn't let you see what you wrote as a response to someone. I would rather it worked more like FaceBook where it sends an alert to your real email and you can carry on the conversation there.
I suspect it is supposed to work that way because you can check it as a preference, but it has never worked for me. I have never once received a notice in my regular email that I had a message on WE. I have a pretty important conversation going in the message system right now and it just doesn't work that well. Maybe it's more of a bug. Anyway I wish it worked right.

Hey John, just wanted to add that if you had new messages, it would show up in the upper right as "3 new messages" etc.

This has been addressed, and will be archived.

Title has been changed to "Reply with quote of previous message"

I always hate the multistepprocess involved in responding to 'noreply' emails. (Just forgot for example and wrote a response to Mikes email in Gmail forgetting it would go to 'noreply' ... l would prefer some way of being able to respond like Facebook .... but don't understand complications involved in doing this.

On second thought this suggestion also proves there is a design flaw, sent messages can be viewed but its not apparent how to view them. So lets keep it, and create another suggestion with the 'reply with quote' feature
|
|
Since this suggestion is more about improving the messaging, and the suggestion title is more of a bug that doesn't apply to everyone, can we change the suggestion to add the 'reply with quote' feature to messages
|
|
Oh that's good - I totally missed seeing that link. (what does that say about the interface?)
I agree that the 'reply with quote' option is necessary. Sustainable David wrote me and said he gets email when he has a WE message - maybe it works for everyone but me. I guess i should report it as a bug. |

Sheri, the system actually saves your "sent messages". In your "Inbox", you will see a "Sent Messages" link. All your sent messages, even the first one you sent upon joining WE some time ago will be listed there.

i completely agree with this. i've had juicy conversations with people on WE and we've kept the conversation using the internal email system. then it's lost and there may be some key pieces that would be good to pick up on and use as a starting point for engaging a deeper discussion with more people. these seeds need to be able to propagate. right now the system doesn't even save the messages i sent.

I suspect that it is a mountainous piece of work to truly perfect the inhouse email system, but one simple featrue that would help a lot would be to add a "reply with quote" option.

Thanks for letting us know that you haven't been receiving message notices in your e-mail..
I agree, it'd be nice to see your "sent messages" automatically when you reply to someone (instead of having to click sent messages), and ditto to your comment below. |
|
And, you can only go to your messages if you go back to your profile page. It should be a link right there on the upper right with "My Groups." Too much clicking required as it is now.
