Three Forks Making a Difference is work in progress.  In taking the Students in Action course through Heritage Institute, I have become aware of the active roll individuals can take in modifying behaviors to create a more healthier Mother Earth.  The goal of this site is to allow my students to access resources that enlighten them on some of the critical issues regarding the health of our planet.  The multitude of information accessable through WiserEarth allows students and their parents to explore areas that are of particular interest to them.  With quality information easily accessable, students can explore not only the causes of environmental harm, but solutions that they can possibly contribute to. 

The current economic climate has many people re-evaluating their lifestyles and buying habits.  The economic conditions have slowed the economoy resulting in a decline in consumerism and development.  As a result of the economic decline, we all have the oppportunity to consider what is really important.  Families are adjusting their spending habits and making changes in how they spend their leisure time.  This slow-down in spending may give us time to reflect on how our lifestyle has affected the planet. 

A goal of this site is for students to communicate with peers thorugh the United States and perhaps globally to brainstorm on how they can be part of the solution to family lifestyle modificaiton.  If students are part of the lifestyle change they will not feel they are deprived of a lifestyle they may think they are entitled  or accustomed to.
