Ecoliteracy in Action

We are members and friends of Esalen Institute's month long legacy/workscholar group, Ecoliteracy in Action. We explore what it means to embody the science of Sustainability, the art of Permaculture, and the culture and economics of the Transition Movement. With heart, soul and love we will share what we know and discover new possibilities together.

Map an Organization's Network

About WiserEarth's networking feature

Every organization page has a Network section which allows you to connect and map related WiserEarth records (organizations, people, resources, solutions, jobs, events and wikipages).

Here's what shows up if you click the [Visualize] link for the organization Bioneers:

This is an interactive visualization where if you click a node, you will be taken to the network visualization of that node. Here is what comes up when clicking on the yellow "Biocultural DIversity Working Group" (yellow at middle left), which is a WiserEarth group.

Any WiserEarth entity's connections can be networked and visualized this way, allowing us to see and thread through the connection between a given organization and article and the article's author, this group and that organization and the organization's members, my event and your article and your organization, etc.

This network feature is the centerpiece of WiserEarth's ability to map and connect the many people and organization who are working toward a just and sustainable world, allowing the movement to see itself and get better connected.

The [List] view allows you to see and edit the description of relationship between any two entity.

How to add and map network relationship

1. Click the [Add] link to go to a search page which will allow you to search WiserEarth for entities you want to connect to an organization. This can be existing content, or new content related to an organization that you have just added to WiserEarth.

2. Click which entity you want to search and connect to.

3. Add tick marks to applicable entities in the search results. You can add multiple tick marks in multiple pages of the search results.

4. Click other entity type you want to search and connect to and repeat the above procedure

5. Click the Add Connections button to proceed and you will be taken to a page listing all your selection. You can specify type of connection for each entity in similar fashion to the [List] view above. Click Finish if you're done, and you will be taken to the well-networked organization page.
