EcoConnoisseur
WiserEarth Executive Director, and she recommended that I propose my 'solution' to you and request acceptance.
So, here's how I intend to help:
I founded an for-profit, educational group called Eco Investment Club back in 2007 as a means to encourage eco investing and forward the progression of the green movement. After founded the company, we decided to establish long-term sustainability initiatives and a I was elected the Chief Green Officer, which I wrote the scope of work for and published it on Wikipedia!
Over time I proposed the companies would see greater progress by electing such position, and I even polled a small group of consumer if they would support companies with Chief Green Officers... 57% said Yes, 35% said Maybe, and 9% said No.
One benefit of the ClimateChanger designation is avoiding confusion. As the green business world grows rapidly, sorting out the true greens from the wannabees can be confusing. Having certification standards for green business leaders may help to cut through confusion and provide solid value, just as it is doing for green products and green businesses.
Climate change remains an immense problem, which makes the opportunity to address climate change with profitable businesses all the greater. With ClimateChangers like Bob Noble and others, we’ll effectively address climate change and other environmental challenges while building a stronger and more sustainable economy in the process. - Glenn Croston

Thx bowo:
1) The way we currently have the requirements structured is 1) attending approved courses, and 2) the successful implementation of an action plan, (in which EIC performs a follow-up 6 - 8 months after the course to confirm that 10-15% of the plans are being attempted and if the attendee needs resources). This is for a individual.
2) I want WiserEarth to consider talking about it, ask questions, give feedback, throw rocks, take polls, and consider the value. Did you know that roughly only 5% of LEED APs actually certify buildings under the LEED certification program. Most new applicants take the test and get the designation to "put on their resume", and "claim to know what their talking about" when it comes to Green business solutions. And if you were a "Dinosaur" business man or woman, on a board of directors, trying to make a multi-million decision whether or not to expand into "eliminating plastic" for the company's operations and moving to "biodegradable options" for packaging --- Would you listen to a manager who was a certified LEED AP, or someone with no certifications?
3) Their is a list of recognized certifications within the system that people select to identity with.
4) Investors don't want to invest in "treehuggers"... or people who don't care about them and the journey they had to take to earn that money... One benefit of the ClimateChanger designation is avoiding confusion. As the green business world grows rapidly, sorting out the true greens from the wannabees can be confusing. The ClimateChanger is the new leader that can focus on the triple bottom, reduce carbon emissions, and change corporate culture, and if WiserEarth can be the breeding ground for the ClimateChangers to share ideas, throw rocks and be recognized for scalable reductions, WiserEarth will be for everyone!
5) More decision makers will join this community, if that worth anything (?)
Thank you for your time.

Hello Pervez,
This sounds interesting. Got me a series of questions to clarify things a little bit:
1. What are the criteria and process for a person/professional to get the ClimateChanger status? (this is for a person yes? not for an organization?)
2. How can people in WiserEarth support your cause?
3. What do you specifically mean by "get it listed on this website"?
4. You posted this in WiserEarth Suggestions group, which is intended for suggestions that can potentially improve WiserEarth. How do you propose your initiative can do that?
5. We use the problem-solution approach as a base test for suggestions submitted here. What problem (in WiserEarth) will your initiative solve?
Regards, Bowo |

Hi Yeves,
1) Good to know.
2) WiserEarth is a non-centralized community. So, if you want people here to talk about it, you should try spreading the word about your initiative with like-minded people and with groups that might be interested in it. Use the search box to find them. Send a message, start a discussion on it in groups, and add a "Climate Changer" resource page to those groups. Have you created a resource page for it?
3) The list of certifications only applies to organizations listings. Perhaps you can invite those who've obtained the certification into WiserEarth? Then ask them to mention about in in their profile page? This would be one very good way to promote.
4) Yes, WiserEarth can be one breeding ground for Climate Changers. (btw, it's already for everyone).
5) Perhaps. Point no.3 above might be a way for that.
Best,
Bowo
