Layout types

There are two types of layout, the 50/50 or 'halves', and the 66/33 or 'two-third'. Groups created in January 2009 onwards are defaulted to the two-third layout, but can be switched to halves any time. Here's a simple overview of each layout. Click on the image to see in real size.

Halves (50/50)

Two-third (66/33)

Group modules can be positioned at the top, left, right or bottom of the group page. When modules are positioned on the top or bottom, they become as wide as the group banner. When on the left or right, module width and style will depend on the layout type.

Customizing layout

You can change layout type by going to the blue 'Administrator Tools' button and click on 'Edit settings'.

The top and bottom row on each layout is optional, in the sense that you can opt to just use the left and right column while leaving the top and bottom section empty of modules.

Customizing your layout further will require you to know about group modules and how to handle and position them. That's next on Step 3 of this tutorial.
