Completed-suggestion: Make followed links change color +5

WE is pretty vast. It's hard to remember where you have been or what you've seen, especially in areas where there is overlap in the subject area. There are various ways to address this. The simplest is to make followed links change color so your cache at least can indicate to you that you've seen something.
A 'breadcrumb trail' can also be useful but I am not sure it would be as effective here since it isn't very linear how one gets around WE.

Why not change links to an analogous color (blue-green) or to gray? I think this would be easier on the eyes.

Well, we did implement the link colors, but I've also heard some feedback from people who were surprised to see how it looks when the links invert color. Particularly on their profile, where their "My Groups" listings look scattered in colors. In any case, we can probably fine-tune our CSS scripts to select only certain parts of our site to invert color, but that will take a bit more time than the first revision of this fix. :)

Hey, all:
I am surprised no one has thought of it yet--breadcrumbs with timestamps! R-r-r-e-e-e-a-a-a-a-l-l-l-l-l small timestamps! And crouton-size breadcrumbs! I have seen "trails", if that is what is meant, across the top of a page on other sites e.g., this page ----> that page -----> the next page ------> and still other pages ----> ...... Would something like this work? Of course, and this may be a browser thing instead of a site thing, but if I could see titles of all pages on the fold down button for "Back" and "Forward" on the browser, I would be much happier. If there were full titles on all of them instead of just "WiserEarth" that would be a big help. Is this an option? Ideas? David Messages done with sustainable energy, with Wind and Sun!. |

Absolutely - on both link changing color and breadcrumbs (both would improve usability which is WE's main issue at the moment. Since it is such a vast site, it's easy to lose ones orientation and both of these features would address this problem).

James "chronological trail" sounds pretty interesting. I think we have one resembling this as "Personal Activity Report" in the "My Profile" page. So the foundation is there. |

Link color change seems useful and easy. Breadcrumb or chronological should be on a different request since it would seem quite a lot more work to implement.

I like this idea. I would also like to see a Breadcrumb Trail. Maybe a chronological trail would be more helpful.
