Questions for Cabrillo Board Candidates

Access Privileges

Access is currently restricted to the following group(s):

Please use this wiki to propose questions to be asked of the candidates for Cabrillo College's governing board, specifically those relating to sustainability issues at Cabrillo. As this is a wiki, we can also edit one another's suggested questions.

Proposed questions:

  1. Which of these policies would you support to help reduce Cabrillo College's greenhouse gas emissions (in accordance with the American College and University President's Climate Commitment, that we have signed)?
    1.
        • seeking funding for alternative energy production (e.g. solar photovoltaics on campus)
        • seeking funding for improved public transportation access for students, faculty and staff
        • a policy that all future construction and remodeling on campus will be LEED certified for green building practices
        2. What are the most improtatnt activities for Cabrillo to pursue in making the campus more sustainble and reducing green house gas emissions?

Note that because we are not chartered, we cannot officially endorse a candidate. Do we want to be chartered?  What would that entail, and what would it signify for us?

We might be able to take a poll about the candidates and post the results.

Faculty and staff: remember to be careful about making endorsements while you're "on the clock." (I wonder when it is that faculty are not...)  Brian King's email on Sept 3rd said: "As a public institution, we have a duty to make sure that any political advocacy or campaign activities take place outside of work hours at Cabrillo, including meetings to consider endorsements or to interview candidates."
