Permaculture Symposium

Vision:  We currently face a global, social and ecological crisis of immense proportions. This inspires our urgent desire to address the situation, to do something BIG, to produce a unique event  - one that is non-commercial, solution-oriented, interactive, participatory, FREE and transformative.

Initially we directed our concerns towards resource depletion, but it quickly became apparent that this crisis is not just about oil or water and soil but rather about our entire culture.  We decided to create an event that would contribute to the process of reclaiming and creating a new culture, a re-birth of community. A culture that values fresh healthy food, clean water, quality affordable housing,  quality education, safe neighborhoods, meaningful activities, supportive community, and a respect  for all living beings.

There has been an unmistakable swelling of “alternative” consciousness during the last five years.  Awareness of issues such as environmental degradation, stopping violence and war, women’s rights, social justice, etc. increases every day.  Currently over 7,500 non-profits exist in the Bay Area alone!  Many of these organizations are addressing the social neglect and decay in our communities.

Culture change engages intentional co-operation. The birth of a cohesive movement inspires us to collectively break through from crisis to community. A major realignment of values, systems, and relationships is essential.  Join us as co-founders of this growing movement.

Mission:  To foster transformative social change for a sustainable future by enabling cooperation across social divides, promoting collaboration among non-profits, and creating a platform for youth and local leadership.

We are a collection of Bay Area people who represent a diversity of social, professional, and ethnic backgrounds.  The consensus that brings us together as a collective force is the importance of our legacy to future generations.

This is a 100% noncommercial event. Nothing will be for sale. We encourage everyone to bring food and drink and extra to share with your new friends!

I did some editing to make the text a bit simpler, more clear, and easier to read. I hope that I didn't violate the meaning. If so please change it back. The wonders of wiki!

Is Storytelling the 10th neighborhood? Only 9 are listed. If so, please add it to the list.

Who is organizing the 3-day channel described at the end of  Ten Themed Solution Neighborhoods?

In all the other parts of this website the event is described as a 2-day affair. No mention of the Friday component. If it is actually happening, I think it should be promoted.

I understand that there will be a walk-through of the site on Saturday, 5/24. I hope to find out exactly where and when to meet.
