Local and Regional Currency
Please contribute to this wiki by posting comments using the comment box below - THANK YOU.
Our Purpose
This wiki's purpose is to collect information and create discussions about local, regional, and trans-national currency systems. In particular:
1. How have local, regional, and trans-national groups implemented and managed alternative and complementary currencies? Specifically:
a. governance
b. production (value created)
c. networks created and cooperation with the public and private sector
d. boundaries and limitations between the commons, public, and private sectors
2. How does current complementary/alternative currency commons work with other commons (i.e. local food production, forest restoration, education, etc.), and are there any unidentified opportunities for other commons to be using this form of currency?
Our research will be organized using Ken Wilber's four quadrant model. Please click here to learn more about the four quadrant model. This model will inform our research and writing by continually reminding us that we should always be looking at four primary characteristics of the currency we are studying. These characteristics (or categories) are: objective, subjective, individual and collective. Once the currency is catagorized in this way, we can then analyize the relationship between these characteristics, as well as the evolutionary component that is likely to emerge.
All primary and secondary research can be found under the Files & Photo's tab located above.
