Grace Chang is volunteering from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and will be assisting WiserEarth's Asia-specific community outreach, as well as translation of outreach materials and site content into Mandarin. |

Lea Char is in Montreal conducting research on poverty alleviation for WiserEarth, and helping translate site content and outreach materials into both French and Arabic. Lea is also finishing up a graduate degree in international business at McGill University. |
| Chelsea Combest-Friedman works on WiserEarth outreach in Latin America. She has worked previously with USAID, The Wildlife Conservation Society, Conservation International and others on conservation projects in Latin America and Africa. She holds a BA in Environment and Development with a minor in International Development from McGill University. |
| Barrett Green is working with us for the summer on WiserEarth. He graduated from CSU Chico with a degree in political science this spring, and while there, was a program coordinator for EcoChico at CAVE: Community Action Volunteers in Education. He also interned for Environmental Advocates at the Community Legal Information Center [CLIC] in Chico. |
| | Mike Kwan graduated from UC Santa Cruz last spring with a BA in politics. He's been involved in nuclear disarmament campaigns and spent a few months last year as a campaign assistant for the Green Party's senatorial campaign in New York. He has been focusing his WiserEarth research on groups addressing militarism, non-violence and community participation, and also groups promoting human rights, especially in Asia and the Middle East. |
| Hannah McCrea, based in Dakar, Senegal, holds a BA in economics from Northwestern University, where she focused on environmental and development economics, as well as French. Her senior thesis focused on freshwater markets in Chile and Australia, and Hannah has spent much of her internship developing the water-related protals on WiserEarth. She is also focusing on Chicago-based funders. |
| Timothy Nash is based in London, Ontario, and is working on WiserEarth economics portals. He dedicated his life to encouraging sustainable behavior in all aspects of society, and is particularly focused on helping guide business to acknowledge, measure, and accept responsibility for its environmental and social impact. |
| | Fabiola Oliveira is a Brazilian ecologist working in Hannover, Germany. She is helping translate WiserEarth outreach materials and site content into Portuguese and German. |
| Ana Orfitelli just graduated from Tulane University where she studied business administration and environmental studies. Most recently, she worked with community organizations focused on sustainably rebuilding New Orleans, and she's headed to Nicaragua for 8 months in August to work on sustainable agriculture and micro-finance projects. Until then, she's working on agroforestry and permaculture areas of focus for WiserEarth. |
| | Tricia Powell has a degree from UC Berkeley in integrative biology, and is considering furthering her education in public health. She was an active member of Cal Habitat for Humanity throughout college, currently works with Cal's Suitcase Clinic and will be spending a month in Panama studying ethnobotany this summer. She has been heading up research in public health, and is involved with WiserEarth Outreach to the South Pacific and Asia. |
| | Sarah Rutherford is working with the WiserEarth outreach team, helping spread the word to people working for social justice, indigenous rights and environmental restoration in Latin America and the Caribbean. Outside NCI, Sarah works closely with the local food movement in Berkeley, volunteering at the Edible Schoolyard, hosting wine and food education dinners, and working at a restaurant that supports local, sustainably operated farms. |
![]() | Caitlin Tanner is working with WiserEarth from Montreal, researching microcredit and international humanitarian law, and assisting with Canadian outreach. Caitlin graduated from McGill in biochemistry, and will continue to pursue her passions in international aid and development. |
![]() | Claire Tugault-Lafleur is conducting research in the areas of food literacy, malnutrition, and indigenous health for WiserEarth. She just finished her masters in geography and will pursue further education in indigenous health and nutrition. |
![]() | Greg Varnau is focusing on student outreach as a volunteer for WiserEarth this summer. He is originally from Seattle, but has worked in the Bay Area at Urban Peace on The Peace Flags Project, as well as both a child abuse prevention program and Maitri. He brings a knack for business and a heart for environmental restoration and social activism. |
![]() | Kerry Vineberg is researching media and advertising for WiserEarth, as well helping us out with student outreach from her base in Santa Barbara. She works at the study abroad office of UCSB, preparing students for overseas studies. |
| | Bedy Yang created and runs Bazaar Brazil, a fair-trade retail business based in Redwood City, California. She has a BA in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and a Masters of Liberal Arts (East Asian Studies) from the University of Pennsylvania. She has an extensive international business background, but is giving WiserEarth some of her time, helping with research on Portuguese NGOs and fair trade issues. |

Rachel Geffen is working with the WiserEarth web team. After earning a BS in Biology from the University of Georgia, she worked for a green building development company and got really excited about green business. She's come to San Francisco to experience the cutting edge of responsible business and work for Highwater Research, who is developing a new methodology for the SRI (socially responsible investing) Industry. |
