I think we can do this very simply and be guided by the core principles of WiserEarth.  The businesses and government agencies that we are interested in including are the ones that are "working toward a just and sustainable world created by community".  I know there are businesses and governments that are not doing that.  I hope they start but until they do they do not belong in WiserEarth.  

The ones that are are the ones we want to include. it seems like a missed opportunity to not include an organization such as google.org.  in fact the whole idea of businesses that are for-benefit and not just for-profit has led to a business certification resource called B Corp.

I suggest we simply extend two fields in the organization profile - the type field and the activity field. I think they can use the same areas of focus because what makes them be "for benefit" is an awareness of the part they play within the whole.This can be a starting point.   How about it?
