Improving WE's content standards

Hello everyone,
Per the consensus reached on this discussion, I've created this page for us to work on upgrading our Directory Content Standards to encompass all record types (not just organizations, but also events, resources, jobs, solutions, wikipages and even groups).
Feel free to start by leaving a comment, or edit away in appropriate places by adding in your thoughts or ideas and leave a signature [your name] at the beginning of your inline edit/comment.

[Bowo] How about "WiserEarth Content Guidelines" (we have "WiserEarth Community Guidelines", so this kinda make sense. Having separate guideline for community and content)
Structure of document:
- General content guidelines
- Per record type content guideline (including "qualify / doesn't qualify for inclusion" section with examples for each, and
"things in the margins" which will be discussed and decided by editors) - How content will be removed from WiserEarth
- Mechanism to file a complaint (if your content is removed) and to resolve it.
- Your thoughts? (to gather further feedback and improve the document).

Thanks Kerry. Yes, "what does and does not qualify" makes it easy to decide, and it's expandable as we reach new consensus on new type of information. Definitely yes for "Your Thoughts" section. Keeps the possibility for further participation and improvement open. Adding these to the draft above.
I propose we rename the document from "WE Directory Content Standards" to "WE Content Guidelines" (so it can complement "WE Community Guidelines").
And I propose we begin the discussion on the general content guidelines, by observing current guidelines for the organizations directory:

This looks like a good start. Shall we start with the base of the previous document? In the guideline, I'm assuming we'll use the same general categories: what does and does not qualify, with things in the margins being up for debate. And I like the Your Thoughts section from the other document too, because it allows for constructive member discussion.
Maybe we could list a few examples (perhaps fictional) of semi-realistic cases that do and don't qualify. For example, does a yoga class qualify? How about a workshop geared towards social entrepreneurship? Or would that be only if they are donating the proceeds to social justice/environmental work? Also, maybe a business example or two? Just a few might do the trick. |

Anyone knows any similar guidelines for jobs? Or, equivalents for events, resources or solutions perhaps?
