Semi-auto addition to Watchlist
Access Privileges [Edit]
Problem: Participating in a page (editing, commenting, discussing) that is beyond a group someone is a member of requires manual addition to watchlist to keep updated. This can result in loss of opportunity for follow-up participation when that someone is unaware of the watchlist feature or simply forgot to click "Add to watchlist".
Solution:
Semi-automatically add a page to a member's watclisth when:
- Editing a page
- Commenting/rating a page
- Participating in a discussion forum
'Semi-automatically' means that upon clicking Save, a user is offered a popping-out option to add the page in question to watchlist. Such option is not needed if the page is part of a group to which the person is a member of or is on the watchlist already.
Pop-out text may read something like:
"This page/discussion is not on your watchlist. Would you like to add it and stay updated of new edits/comments?" (the word watchlist should link to the Watchlist tutorial page)

I do believe we want to simplify the watchlists to something more like what LinkedIn has. Also, as we by default watchlist all groups that someone is a member of that would mean we wouldn't have to ask the user whether they want to watchlist something unless that content is outside of one of their current groups.

"Add this page to your watchlist"? .... with a short comment like "... to be notified of subsequent edits and comments by other community members"?
We definitely should not show this on pages already on a user's watchlist (e.g. part of a group a user is a member of). |

Good idea I think. Perhaps this should be an optional setting for each user. I'm sure some users would rather just do fly-by commenting.
Also, maybe have the text say: "Add this <whatever it is> to your watchlist?" or just "Add to watchlist?" |
