Hay all,
Unicom – this was the term for fleet wide transmissions on Battlestar Galactica years ago. I have in previous communications out here on Wiserearth advocated a similar system where a person could send out to all members simultaneously. This of course raises a red flag when it comes to the term called moderation. How would such a system work and be able to filter out people just making noise or spamming from those who would be making serious concerns. Here I could see the use of a priority structure where a color code could be employed within everyone’s main profile page a sequence of some five or so colors could be displayed as boxes or tabs and within the boxes or tabs the number of hits within that category for that day, week or months events could be displayed. The moderation would be then be up to the discretion of that individual as to whether they would want to view, save or delete any of the correspondence.

WiserEarth does have an ability to send a message to all users, but it's an ability that's only given to site administrators for spamming purposes. I don't believe we'll ever allow a user to send a message to everyone on the site - that would be far too susceptible to spamming.

Thank You Randy for the great thought about Mass Message and Resource Sending. I am new to WE and computer illiterate at present,but the site is well worth improving upon. I will follow your progress on this interesting concept at Wiser Earth Watchlist Alert. Angus had mentioned The Group Messaging Function, and I will look into it shortly. @ Randy: Spamming is a big issue. But even if the content of an email is about WiserEarth issues but it is not targeted enough to be relevant to a specific member then that in effect is a type of 'spam'. The good thing is there is the group messaging function were any member can WEmail to any other member in a group. That should provide something of what you are looking for.
