@ Bowo: Good points. I think we need to be careful to distinguish between providing information to achieve policy change (e.g. how politicians / political parties align on certain issues) versus active campaigning (e.g. getting people to vote for a specific candidate). The later is not allowed for non-profits in the US. I'm simplifying here but you are right something should be included in the community guidelines.

Would political campaigns be allowed in WiserEarth? I think this would be one major source of either progress or clutter/conflict, depending on how it's done. Judging that political parties are not allowed in WiserEarth at the moment, this would entail "No" as the answer. However, I've seen several instances of this in WiserEarth for where users campaign for a certain US presidency candidate.
Perhaps we need to develop a more comprehensive community guidelines that is more in tune with the content standards? Which we'll definitely need to do anyway if WE decide to include for-profits and gov. agencies. |
