New Focus Group: Energy Democracy

Does it make you uncomfortable to read that British Petroleum put half a billion into a research partnership with UC Berkeley or that Chevron keeps telling us how it is going to solve our energy problems? And that speculators and pension funds might be inflating the value of oil?
"Energy Democracy" refers to us the little guys and gals becoming more than consumers. We become energy gatekeepers for our communities; we operate micro-enterprises in the energy sector; we advocate for large energy concerns to become stakeholder, instead of shareholder, driven.
I do not know how to start a Wiser Earth group for Energy Democracy. If you do know, please do.

If you wish to create a group, just click the Create a Group link in the left navigation bar. You can create, add and aggregate content related to Energy Democracy there.
If you want to create a new area of focus, that is something different and can be done only by WiserEarth admins/developers.
Either way, having a good rationale, getting enough support from other community members and aggregating relevant content will definitely help, and all of this can be done by first creating a group for it and getting people involved in building the content/knowledge-base.
