The Red Tent:  A Discussion on Alternative Flow (for men and women)
  Do
you use alternative methods of managing your flow or are you curious to know how?  Well, then join us at The Red Tent to find out ways to form a new relationship with your flow (or come to share your flow stories with
others).  We'll be discussing self-care for PMS through food, herbs,
movement, and thought as well.  You don't flow?  Join us anyway to find
ways to care for your loved one.
Lindsay Wilson works as a Community Organizer for her day job where she
focuses on community arts, public health, and outdoor education for
inner-city San Franciscan families.  For 5 years she has been studying
Yoga and movement.  And, for the past 3 years she has been studying
Western Herbalism.  With a background in permaculture design, she combines
these interests to fuel inspiration for social awakening through the way
we live, love, and interact with ourselves and the world.

Sustainable Health   Health care is in crisis. For the first time, a baby born in some
parts of the US today is expected to live a shorter life than his or
her parents. One reason is that the health care system isn’t about
health, it’s about medical care. That's what happens when things go
wrong. Promoting health and preventing disease so things don't go
wrong is something people can do by making changes in their personal
and community environment and by tending to each person's unique
biology.

The Sustainable Health Institute has the mission of building the
capacity of people and their communities to thrive in this way. The
Institute is building a network of local working groups that support
personal and community change and that collaborate in building a
participatory knowledge base of sustainable health practices.

This presentation has two parts. In the first part, Jeffry Fawcett
and Layna Berman discuss the Institute and its goals. In the second
part we look forward to engaging the genius of the people who attend
in a discussion of how we can better achieve those goals, including
starting local working groups.

Participate in making health care about health from the ground up.

Fasting for Healing and Peace
Fasting is the most effective way to detoxify and rejuvenate the body.  When no calories are given to the digestive system, the body gets a break from the almost constant effort to process foods -- already difficult and inefficient when one has toxins (from the environment, pharmaceutical petrochemical drugs, and urban stress).  Jan Lundberg has been raised on fasting and has gone as long as 23 days on only water.  Let's consider what the word "breakfast" really means and if we need to go back to our roots to help bring about not just individual health but societal health for a more peaceful world.  See his website culturechange.org.
