Meet Dana Curran
Ms. Curran co-founded World Savvy in 2002, and is currently the Executive Director. World Savvy is a global education nonprofit based in San Francisco serving more than 6,000 youth and 350 educators in California and New York. World Savvy's mission is to educate and engage youth in community and world affairs (www.worldsavvy.org). Ms. Curran began her career in a large corporate law firm in New York; Since transitioning to the nonprofit sector, she has taught global issues in Bay Area high schools, managed multi-site after school programs and developed a capacity building model for the educators and youth involved in World Savvy programs. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, with a concentration in Economic and Political Development, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Connecticut College. Ms. Curran has had significant academic experience in the fields of international relations, economic development, local level development and poverty alleviation, microfinance and governance. She has also traveled extensively in South Asia, Europe, and Central America, and speaks frequently as a panelist on topics relating to global education and citizenship. Ms. Curran is also actively involved in a range of community based initiatives in San Francisco concerning youth development, education, and international education, and volunteers as a Steering Committee member with two local youth development nonprofits and is the Vice President of INFORUM a the Commonwealth Club of California.
