Greening Detroit
Edit this Page
I have been working on building a coalition of individuals to green Detroit city. Taking the 20,000+ abandoned downtown lots and turning them in to urban agroforestry would revitalize the city and show the rest of the world how to transform a city from an industrial era dinosaur to a state of the art, sustainable ecosystem.
Once proven in Detroit, placed like Buffalo, Gary, Toledo, Cleveland, Flint etc. etc. would recognize the amazing solutions that sustainability, permaculture and natural capitalism yield.
I'd like the group to lend advice and resources to this effect.

This sounds incredible! How is the work going? Who owns the vacant properties?

John Picard has helped green the entire town of Greensburg, Kansas. There is a show about this on Planet Green called Greensburg. Quite amazing stuff.
