We'd like to put in place an open and transparent process for removing users from the site who have repeatedly violated WiserEarth's Community Guidelines. For these users, we generally send them a few warning notices and ask them to refrain from postings that violate the Terms of Use. If a user fails to change their behavior, then WiserEarth will take steps to de-activate the user's account and remove any postings that violate the community guidelines.
We will document on this page any users who have been de-activated and steps taken by WiserEarth to notify them of their terms of use violation.

User: JT Hessert (De-activated August 29th, 2008)
JT Hessert has been very difficult to communicate with in an honest and civil manner. In past discussions over the last year, JT Hessert made personal attacks against several members of WiserEarth. He alternated from being civil to being hostile, and it became very difficult for other members of WiserEarth to present their ideas and opinions without being attacked by JT Hessert. While we respect his right to present differing opinions, the guidelines do not allow for personal attacks to be made on other members. JT's disruptiveness was noticeably visible throughout the Suggestions group, where his confrontational and hostile remarks caused a few members to withdraw from posting in the group.
JT Hessert was sent warning notices on Jun 26th, August 14th, and August 21st, after he made hostile and derogatory comments to other members of WiserEarth. He has since continued to remain confrontational and unreasonable, and under the policy outlined in our Community Guidelines, we have de-activated his account.
Examples can be found in the comments and About section. Although we have already flagged and removed some of his more hostile postings, these do offer a good sample of JT's behavior:
