Here is a list of working groups, projects and focus activities where we can gather on an ongoing basis to help to improve various aspects of WiserEarth. Please feel free to suggest new working groups that may be required or apply to become an administrator of any of these groups.  Think on Every Scale, Act in Every Locality Goal: To attract a greater global base of WiserEarth users by facilitating the growth and development of WiserEarth community, regional or national groups How you can help: Select a community, region or country of the world and help build a WiserEarth community for it and monitor & update its organizations, events, resources, etc. Progress: Linking up groups for regional communities to this group. Supporting existing regional communities and encouraging the formation of more regional communities.  Stewarding WiserEarth's Areas of Focus Goal: Steward the Area of Focuses and portal pages @ http://www.wiserearth.org/aof/browse How you can help: Choose an areas of focus (AOF) which you are passionate about and help to: 1. Improve and ensure the quality of content within an area of focus. 2. Spread awareness of the AOF as a resource to other WiserEarth members interested in that issue area Progress: Initial setup. Brainstorming ideas on ways to edit AoF portal and build AoF-specific content. Prospecting AoF editors.  WiserEarth Area of Focus Suggestions http://www.wiserearth.org/group/aof_suggestionsImproving WiserEarth Areas of Focus Goal: Host discussion for new aofs and changes to current aofs. The likelihood of a suggestion being integrated on WiserEarth depends on the time and resources it would take, and on its overall expressed collective interest. How you can help: Suggest new areas of focus or comment on other suggestions  Need any help with WiserEarth? Goal: A place to ask questions, get advice, help out other users, and learn how to make best use of WiserEarth. How you can help: Join the group and help out in projects and answer questions from users. Progress: Actively offering support to the community. Looking for more helpers.  Your every wish and desire on WiserEarth Goal: This group organizes the suggestions gathered from WiserEarth users. The likelihood of a suggestion being integrated on WiserEarth depends on the time and resources it would take, and on its overall expressed collective interest. For suggestions related to areas of focus, see Area of Focus Suggestions. How you can help: Join the group and come up with ideas to improve WiserEarth (feature, usability, interaction, etc.). Progress: Members are actively coming up with ideas, improve them and support them. More than 100 community suggestions so far. More than 20 of them implemented and live on site.  WiserEarth Group Support, Help, Questions, Advice Goal: to coordinate/build WE groups, and to facilitate requests for group support How you can help: Introduce your group, share ideas on how to make a successful group, help other group admins in managing their group. Progress: Work on helping group admins has begun. Featuring active and vibrant groups.  WiserEarth's collaborative, lifelong, learning portal. Goal: To create a collaborative learning space where WiserEarth users can learn about the range of issues in creating a just and sustainable world. How you can help: Join the group, improve the concept of Weversity, contribute your knowledge and craft functional and good looking wikipages as learning guides to achieve our goal. Progress: Minimal usable setup. Brainstorming ideas and attracting potential members and contributors.

Goal: We are here to discuss and advocate ways which WiserEarth can be more accessible to all regions and languages.
How you can help: Help translate WiserEarth interface and content to a language you're fluent in.
Progress: WiserEarth is hoping to launch in Spanish in 2009 and a French version of WiserEarth after that.We're also co-creating a working plan to take WiserEarth in different languages. Hop in with your edits/ideas. |
More Projects and Activities
In addition to working group activities, there are other projects and activities on WiserEarth. Any users can propose one.
They must be about issues that the community needs to tackle together (e.g. improving the user interface), for issues with less magnitude, consider posting in the shoutbox section of the Assist page.
