Importing data? Lists of resources? +2

Edit this Page
Is it possible to do a mass import of data into the Wiser platform?  If so, what sort of file specifications would be desired?  The questions arises as we consider ways to rapidly add both members of our national network, and lists of resources.

Could there be a unique template for an import of resources, orgs, people, jobs, events?  If so, this might facilitate large organizations to upload regional staff and volunteers, to both facilitate use of the site, and encourage participation.

This could be one kind of tool that helps the site to grow more exponentially?

@Honore: thanks for the update.

We haven't offered this option mainly because we wanted to maintain the integrity of the data.  For every record created on our site, there's data validation checks to make sure all the required fields are filled in and filled in properly.  Allowing mass importing would bypass those checks.  Offering an API may or may not alleviate this issue, as it does come with certain restrictions that ensures the integrity of the incoming data.  As we head closer to offering API keys for developers, I will post back more on this process.

Good idea.

Probably a part of the wider open API discussion...

Would be great to get Outlook contacts selected and added in - like Linked In or importing data from Linked-In or other Social Network Sites.
